About Us

Our History Our HistoryHello, I am Kathy Evans. I own and operate Pure Intentions, The Wheatgrass Growers and School of Energy.I began as an organic herb farmer. At the time, the Akron area was experiencing the dawning of a renewed interest in eating locally grown, seasonal organic herbs and vegetables. Forward thinkers in the culinary and grocery community, such as Papa Joes, New Earth Health Foods, and The Mustard Seed Market and Cafe opened the door for local farmers and organic growers like me.In addition to growing herbs and vegetables I had been growing wheatgrass for myself, friends, and family while educating myself and others about the benefits of drinking wheatgrasss juice. As the truth about the qualities of wheatgrass juice have become known, "wheatgrasss" has gone from an unknown entity to a house-hold word. Growing wheatgrass became year-round, full-time work for me, so I hung up my black and whites (I had always waited tables in the winter) and put on my work gloves and boots.By the time we were producing 70 pounds of wheatgrass a week in my basement, I realized it was time to expand, so we moved the operation to a warehouse space (The Wheatgrass Plant) in the valley.After eight years in the valley, we once again outgrew our space. This time we were fortunate enough to find a building that would meet our uniquie needs as wheatgrass growers. From scratch we designed and built a state of the art climate controlled grow room and facility that will accomodate our future growth.At our new facility we brought along our School of Energy. Our Energy Studio has a gorgeous -- 800 square foot state-of-the-art Danish tongue-and-groove professional exercise floor. This space is well suited for many energetic exercise practices and enlightenment assembly of all kinds. The School of Energy is designed to attract a diverse spectrum of holistic and energetic facilitators and teachers for all ages and levels. My vision is to create a venue where healers, teachers and students come together to practice healthy living. A place where individuals and groups can realize opportunity and create their own reality.

This is an important component of our product, and we are proud to qualify annually for this certification.

Our Location Our LocationPure Intentions...The Wheatgrass Growers and School of Energy is located near the beautiful Cascade Valley Park, just down the road from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. We are also a stone's throw from the Ohio and Erie Canalway and Towpath Trail and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Train Station in the growing Northside Area of downtown Akron.

Wheatgrass Juice What is Wheatgrass?Wheatgrass is the young grass of wheat grown from the red winter wheatberry seed. The fresh-squeezed juice of the grass produces high concentrations of chlorophyll, active enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It is true that 1oz. of wheatgrass juice has the nutritional equivalent of 2-1/2 lbs. of green, leafy vegetables. It is one of the richest natural sources of vitamins A, B complex, B-17, C, E, & K. There are several options for electric juicers ranging from $200 to $700. Pure Intentions sells the Samson Electric Juicer for $229.00 plus tax. Most people start out by juicing and drinking one ounce of juice. It's nice to have a slice of orange or lemon to clean your palette after drinking wheatgrass juice.

He has studied, and continues to study with his guru, Yogi Amrit Desai. He completed the Amrit Yoga Level 1 and 2 Teacher Certification in 2003 and 2004 and is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher with a 500 hour training designation. Greg has taught Yoga in Akron, Doylestown, Wadsworth and Fairlawn. He has done additional training in Vedic scripture and Yoga Nidra. The abiding power of Yoga has had such a profound impact on my life that I feel compelled to share what I have received. NancyCertified as a Yoga Instructor at the 200-hour level, Nancy's Yoga teaching approach draws from a number of contemporary styles, with deep reverence to the known origins and principles of this ancient science and practice. Nancys classes combine a slower paced vinyasa flow, sometimes called slow flow, with deeper and longer holding of postures, allowing for greater attention to alignment, a chance to cultivate breath, strength and flexibility, and an opportunity to truly savor the experience of uniting mind and body, heart and soul. Nancy's Beginners/Basics classes focus on steadily building and strengthening a yoga practice, through a solid foundation of alignment and yoga breathing. Participants in Nancys yoga classes can expect to move, breathe and to be met by yoga wherever they are. Students should consult with their health care providers, to determine whether yoga is an appropriate choice for them; and all students are encouraged to respect their own bodies and their limits. Nancy suggests that students wear loose, comfy clothing and bring a blanket or cushion.
